An artist and designer who has been creating art for the past 40 years, Michael is a native New Yorker who was born in the Bronx and grew up in Queens. He attended Pratt Institute, Minneapolis College of Art & Design and is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Design and Communications. Michael pursued a career in advertising art direction and design working with some of the largest brands in the world for the past 30 years. However, he never stopped painting. As a result of his art and commerce background, Michael’s atmospheric abstractions have traces of remembered landscapes with strong color and fluid design that grabs attention. 

“I want the viewer to feel a sense of delight - either from a blast of beautiful color, a textural quality or an etherial view. While the natural world plays a profound role in my work, I try to maintain a delicate balance in my portrayal between realism and abstraction. The focus is not literally on the landscape yet there is an aspect of nature that can’t be ignored. Both mysterious and revealing, my approach is to transform natural elements, creating images with rich, complex surface texture and dreamlike environments filled with light and color.”

Michael lives in the beautiful, northern countryside on the outskirts of Baltimore, Maryland with his fiancé Jennifer and their two French bulldogs, Romeo and Juliet.
