An artist and designer who has been creating art for the past 40 years, Michael is a native New Yorker born in the Bronx and grew up in Queens. He attended Pratt Institute, Minneapolis College of Art & Design and is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Design and Communications. Michael pursued a career in advertising art direction and design working with some of the largest brands in the world for the past 30 years. However, he never stopped painting. As a result of his art and commerce background, Michael’s atmospheric abstractions have traces of remembered landscapes with strong color and fluid design that grabs attention.

“I want the viewer to feel a sense of delight - either from a blast of beautiful color, a textural quality or an etherial view. While the natural world plays a profound role in my work, I try to maintain a balance between realism and abstraction. The focus is not literally on the landscape yet there is an aspect of nature that can’t be ignored. Atmospheric and revealing, my approach is to transform natural elements, creating images with rich, complex surface texture and dreamlike environments that are emotionally engaging.”

Michael lives in the beautiful, northern countryside on the outskirts of Baltimore, Maryland with his wife Jennifer and their French bulldog, Juliet.
